Thor Version 4.2 is a high-performance database system for the storageand retrieval of chemical information. Thor databases use chemicalstructure as the primary key for storage and retrieval of data. Thisenables all Thor databases to be intercompatible and allow constant-timedata retrieval. Data can be associated with any identifier; Thorautomatically maintains relationships between data and identifiers, whichcan be ambiguous, overlapping, or highly specific. Any amount or kind ofdata can be stored in any field, limited only by processor capability.Thor has special built-in processing to efficiently handle chiral,tautomeric, and 3-D data.Thor 4.2 operates through a client-server mechanism. A single program(Thor Server) is responsible for maintaining databases on a givenmachine.
